Research Station

The “Research Station” consists of two 1960s houses, with a separate laboratory building between them.  The total sleeping capacity for both houses is 9, although the houses can be reserved separately.  Usage fees are $30 per person per night, plus a cleaning fee ($50 for East Wing (Big House), $40 for West Wing (Small House), or $101 if you reserve all 3 spaces).  You can check availability and request a booking on our Reservations page.  Groups should read the facility rules in the Research Facility User Manual before making a booking.

The facility has high-speed wireless internet, cable, and white boards.  There is a gas grill outside for grilling.

N.B. There is a Bunk House about 0.5 miles downhill of the Research Station, which can provide further accommodation for up to 7 people.

  1. The East Wing (“Big House”) sleeps 6 people and has a wonderful view of Mt. Guyot.  The accommodation has
    • Two bedrooms, one with a double bed and one with four twin beds;
    • One full bathroom and one half bathroom;
    • A storage area;
    • A fully equipped kitchen;
    • A dining/living area adjacent to the kitchen;
    • A conference table for meetings of up to ~12 people.
  2. The West Wing (“Small House”) sleeps 3 people and has a spectacular view of Mt. LeConte.  The accommodation has
    • One bedroom with a double bed, and an attached room with a single bed;
    • One full bath;
    • A fully equipped kitchen;
    • A dining/living area adjacent to the kitchen;
    • A conference table for meetings of up to ~12 people.
  3. The Lab Building has bench space for 15+ people.  The space includes
    • Microscope stations;
    • A refrigerator;
    • A washer/ dryer.
